Biography

Musical Background

• Andie studied piano and violin at an early age, first at the Conservatory of Music,  later at the Music High School Graz, Austria, where she studied violin with Prof. Christos Polyzoides. Initially self-taught on guitar she had formal tuition with Prof. Heinz Irmler at the Music High School Graz – Expositur Oberschützen, where she also studied vocals with Prof. Jane Gartner. In her final year, she took up Double Bass with Prof. Johannes Auersperg. During her time as a Music Student, Andie taught guitar at the local High School.

• As the singer and violinist of an Austrian Country & Western band, she toured Austria and Germany. Forming a Duo with the guitarist of that outfit, she recorded a single for EMI Germany. Tours and TV appearances followed. After moving to London, Andie joined “Original Sin” as lead vocalist/bassist (an all-girl Rock Band with ex- Ice Age guitarists Isabella Fronzoni and Johanna Holmstedt, as well as drummer Liz Watts) and later joined Goth Rock Band “Symphony of Pain”. Andie currently plays bass in Thrash Metal Band “Furnaze”.

• Composing a tune for a scene in her first acting role on Austrian TV and performing the vocals, Andie also wrote lyrics to a funky tune for Pat Metheny's soundtrack of John Schlesinger's movie 'The Falcon and the Snowman'.

• From 1996 to 2003, Andie had her own Classical Guitar Techniques column in the renowned British 'Guitarist' magazine. She went on to publish a collection of 12 of the most popular arrangements in “Simply Classical” in 2006. Recently, Andie has been collaborating with Austrian singer/songwriter Leo Kyséla as an author of lyrics.

Business

• Joined the admissions team at MI London and later took on all Visiting Artist bookings. Booked and organized MI London's 'Guitar Week' from 1995 to 1998. She was also responsible for most Press Releases.

• International Product Demonstration Executive for Bamix of Switzerland for many years, later an instructor and marketing advisor for new distributors and demonstrators all over the world, adapting various demonstration recipes and strategies to suit the respective market.

Countries visited include: China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine, Rumania, Serbia, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, The Netherlands, Finland, Sweden and Estonia.

For about 10 years, Andie has been working as a freelance translator and proofreader, especially within Medical Market Research (translation/analysis) and the Music Business (correction of lyrics, press/publicity for non-native English speakers, translations).
